Get Your Smile Ready For The Holidays

The holidays are right around the corner, meaning the year is coming to a close. At Lost Mountain Dental, we are here for you during this time and want to remind you of some essential oral health information to ensure your smile is ready for the holidays. Here are some of our best tips as your trusted dentist in Marietta, GA on how to get your smile ready for the upcoming holiday season:

Use Your Insurance Benefits

The end of the year is a very busy time for most patients. Because of this, most often forget about their unused dental insurance benefits. You’ve worked hard for these benefits and deserve to get the most out of them. We recommend going ahead and scheduling your next preventative care appointment or any necessary procedure that you’ve been putting off until now. It’s important to see your dentist at least twice a year, so if it has been over six months since the last time you sat in a dental chair, go ahead and give us a call. Dr. Mulkey is a participating provider of Delta Dental and Cigna Dental plans. We accept most dental insurance as an out of network provider as long as you are free to choose your own dentist, and will file your claim on your behalf during your visit to assist you with maximizing your dental benefits. If you have questions about your coverage please contact the office prior to your visit.

Remember To Brush & Floss

Often, around the holiday season, we notice that some patients find it hard to prioritize their dental health because of how much they have going on. From gift shopping, dinner planning, and visiting friends and relatives, we understand you have a very busy schedule right now. However, it’s important to remember that your dental health relies on your at-home oral hygiene routine as its first line of defense against tooth decay and gum disease. Brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day to avoid plaque and tartar buildup. We would hate to see our patients having to spend the early days of the upcoming new year in our office for emergency dental treatment because they forgot to take care of their smiles over the holidays.

Avoid Tooth-Staining Holiday Favorites

One of the best things about the holiday season is all of the delicious treats and snacks. Unfortunately, some holiday favorites are notorious for staining your smile. Red wine, hot cocoa, cranberry sauce, and blueberry pie are just some of the foods and beverages that you should be wary of this holiday season. If you do indulge, make sure to follow your snacks up with a thorough brushing and flossing session to ensure any staining agents do not remain on your dental structures for too long. Not looking forward to skipping out on some of your holiday favorites? Not to worry! If you notice your smile is dulled after the holidays are over, consider scheduling a professional teeth whitening appointment to brighten your smile back up again. This is also an excellent treatment option for patients wanting to look their best before the holiday festivities begin. If you are interested in learning more about how our cosmetic dentistry solutions can help you prepare for this holiday season, schedule an appointment online today.
